I made my own Whare Tapa Wha, it is about well being and how you can become a better person.

There are 5 themes:

- Taha Hinengaro - Mental and Emotional

- Taha Wairua - Spiritual

- Taha Timata - Physical

- Taha Whanau - Family and Social

- Whenua - Roots and Land

All of these represent a small house that is part of you. There are tips and advice I have put in there.

Te Wiki o te Reo Maori - Learning In Lockdown

 Hi guys today I will be showing you what our class did today.

Te Wiki o te Reo Maori is a week where everyone gets to celebrate the language, Te Reo Maori. It is mainly used in NZ and has been celebrated by most of the people in NZ. The use of Te Wiki o te Reo Maori is to get people to know more about this language and the ancestry and history behind it.

Since it's Te Wiki o te Reo Maori, we practiced these sentences in Maori. Here are some of the sentences we did:

- Kei te ahau toku kai = I am eating

-Kei te koe toku kanikani = You are dancing

-Kei te toku panui = He is reading

-Kei te ahau toku moe = I am sleeping

-Kei te hikoi ana ia = He was walking

-Kei te oma koe = You are running

-Ko te Paulette kei te waiata = Paulette is singing

-Ko te ruru kei te whakaeke = The owl is hooting

I tried my best to see what the verbs are and hopefully they are correct!

Pepeha - Learning In Lockdown

 Hi guys today i will be showing you my digital pepeha! Enjoy!

Ms Corbett said if we did level 1 pepeha, we would get 20 tokens, if we did level 2 pepeha, we get 40 tokens, if we did level 3 pepeha, we get 60. I had a go at level 2 and hopefully I get 40 tokens!

In the level 2 pepeha, we had to do:

- One whakatauki

- Maunga

- Awa

- Iwi, hapu or marae (if you have any)

- Grandparents

- Parents

- Siblings (if you have any)

- Me

I had to ask my mum and dad about my grandparents too.

Flipgrid Videos and the Longest Word in NZ! - Learning In Lockdown

 Hi guys!

Today my class and I did something with Flipgrid. We recorded ourselves with Flipgrip saying NZ's longest word:

'taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu'

It is a name of a 305 metre hill, which is quite high, almost 300 times of my height!

I kept getting confused about the 'horonuku' as 'honoruku'.

This was quite a challenge for us!

Te Reo Speakpipe Practice - Learning In Lockdown

 Today one of our distant learning tasks were to do a Speakpipe practice on pronouncing the words;

Potiki, 

Waenga, 

Matamua, 

Manawaroa, 

Auahatanga.

It was kinda tongue twisting at first but then I got the hang of it.

Te Reo and Pronunciations Week 8

 Today we did Te Reo and Ms Corbett gave us some words to practise, we practised pronouncing these words: Kauri, Rata, Totara, Kowhai, Kawe Haepapa.

Here are my pronunciations:

Vowel Sounds In Te Reo

 

Today we practiced dipthongs and vowel sounds in Te Reo. I recorded my pronunciations on some words. This is one of them; Te Whanau Puwaitanga

I like learning Te Reo Maori and I would like to improve on my dipthongs and pronunciation.

Dipthongs and Pronunciations

Yesterday we practiced dipthongs and Māori word pronunciations. We practiced the words: Ngākau, Hineraukatauri, Auahatanga and Te Papaiouru. 

A dipthong is two vowels together;

ae, ai, ao, au, ou, io, ie, etc...

I recorded my voice and this is how I pronounce it.

- Te Papaiouru

- Ngākau

- Hineraukatauri

- Auahatanga
